“Cost is the biggest obstacle to obtaining hearing aids. The average hearing aid costs over $1,900 each. Most patients need two and Medicare and most insurance companies do not cover the cost of hearing aids.
For most of my patients, $1,900 is simply out of reach. They’re retired. They may be more consumed with the groceries and rent and they often go without hearing aids, although I know it would provide significant benefit to their life and quality of life to have hearing amplification in both ears.”
